Bio:
Myles Murphy is a country singer and songwriter based in Abbotsford, BC. His energetic live shows are not just musical performances, but audience interactive dance parties.
After playing in alternative rock band Kingsway for two years, he decided to pursue a solo country career in early 2017. While Kingsway had called themselves a rock band, their songs ended up sounding more like country songs in a live setting- complete with banjos and all- and Myles was encouraged to embrace the country sound.
Myles started singing when he was 4 years old, and gained a performance background at the fine arts school he attended in Abbotsford from grade 3 to 7. As a kid, he would sing pop music like Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys, but growing up in the small town of Nakusp, he also loved Tim McGraw and Dr. Hook. What resulted is Myles’ current rock-infused modern country sound, and his stage presence reminiscent of a pop star’s.
In his short time as a solo artist, Myles has traveled to Nashville to co-write with other songwriters, reached the Top 10 of Ole’s On The Spot competition, and performed at a ton of venues around BC, including Old Crow Coffee Co. in New Westminster, Gabby’s Country Cabaret in Langley, and The Roxy Cabaret in Vancouver. He will also be opening for Brett Kissel in March, at Chilliwack Cultural Centre. Currently, he is playing tons of shows and writing songs for his upcoming debut EP.
